WAR: What A Reality.....

Wars have been fought since the dawn of mankind. Some for land, some for respect and some for love. One thing is always common: Greed. I remember a quote, "War is old men talking and young men dying". How true it is. I can't stop thinking, what is the real reason for a war. The war between India and Pakistan: One country divided into two fighting over Kashmir. The Pakistanis say that Kashmir belongs to them since it should have been a part of Pakistan after independence and the Indians say it has been a part of India after independence and so shall it be. I don't know who is right but did we ever think about the people who used to stay in Kashmir. Now they are only Kashmiris by namesake.
What about the war US is fighting in Iraq? What is the true reason for that? Does US really care about the people in Iraq or do they just don't want to pay high gas prices. Each person has his/her own opinion. And everyone talks about the war. But what I don't really get is, are the wars necessary? Could they have been avoided? Could the lives of hundreds of soldiers be saved? I am sure they can if one side could just say F**** it. But it will never happen because of that thing we have in us.....Pride. We would rather die than give up. Patriotism or Stupidity.
Let me ask you, what do you think?
When I was young my favorite toy was a gun and I loved watching war movies. I still do. But now my perceptions of war movies have changed. Now when I watch a war movie, I can't stop thinking about that soldier as a person, father, brother and not as an actor. I have been lucky that I was never involved in a war or the war never came to my door step. Thanks to the soldiers who fight them and let me live free. I have the utmost respect for them.

Bottom Line: War - Patriotism or Stupidity?

What I learnt in College: Part 1

I believe learning is a lifetime process. You will never be able to learn or know everything. But it is always important to share life experiences. There are so many things that I learnt in college that I wish someone had told me or warned me about. Some of my blogs will be about my experience in college and hence Part 1.
One of the most important things I learnt was that nothing else matters but your GPA. When you get out of college and try to look for a job the first thing an employer will look for is your GPA. Your GPA may not reflect all your capabilities but it sure does reflect how good you are at learning and how good you are at taking test under stressful situations. There are many things you can do to keep your GPA up eg: attend class regularly, submit homework’s on time, work with proffers on tough subjects, etc. But one bad semester can ruin everything. A bad semester can be caused by some unavoidable issues like family problems, death of a close relative, etc. Most of the time it is due to other avoidable issues like party and drinking too much, getting addicted to video games or worse, drugs, taking curriculum too lightly etc.
There is one other issue that not too many people think much about and that is a 'Bad Relationship'. A bad relationship is not healthy any time but when something important is at stake then you definitely should avoid it. A bad relation will make you weak in mind and lessen your determinism. You are constantly thinking about your spouse and lose focus on important things such as school and your family. There can be many things that can cause a relationship to go sour. Remember one thing: if your spouse can't make you smile or happy and be yourself way early in the relationship then that is just not worth it.
Most of the time we never know what’s best for us. Listen to your family and close friends. Make sure you know your priorities. Sometimes it is best to let go.

Bottom Line: In College, nothing is more important than your GPA. Even a relationship.

My First Blog

Hi,
This is my first blog and I want to tell you about what I plan to write in my Blogs. I don't think anyone cares about what pizza I had today or what I chatted with my friends about. I really want to write about things that matter to everyone. I want to focus on the meaning of why we do something. I want to write about things that we can learn about and gain valuable insight on anything important. Help me understand my experience better with your input.

Bottom Line: Can I keep my Blog going?
